Fall Festivals to Consider
There are so many events in the Fall, that it can be difficult to choose which ones to attend. I will cover a few here to get you started on your adventures.
An hour and a half from Denver, this ski resort and historic mountain town is one of the best places to see changing leaves in North America. That is because of its high elevation. In Breckenridge, you can enjoy the annual Oktoberfest or go to the local street party. Either choice is great for the entire family while you enjoy the gorgeous fall colors, crisp weather, and the reduced prices at the ski lodge.
If you are wanting to travel further, you should certainly consider celebrating Oktoberfest in Germany. The family-friendly events include numerous community dinners and events with lots of beer. They set aside Tuesdays as family days officially, a day to enjoy reduced cost performances and rides. While there, you can also enjoy the Running of the Weiners, Munich’s dachshund race.
Catskill Mountains, New York
In the Catskill Mountains of New York state, you will find the Bethel Woods Harvest Festival on the same grounds where the original Woodstock Festival was held. There is much fanfare found here as the anniversary of Woodstock is next summer. The Harvest Festival offers many themed activities throughout, including sustainable energy, alpacas, hay rides, face painting, corn mazes, and more for the entire family.
Throughout the entire month of October, you can enjoy the Cambria Scarecrow Festival in California. The townies’ design scarecrows and display them all throughout the city. You will find hundreds of scarecrows on your journey through town, from those that are scary, to funny ones.
If you are near Pennsylvania, check out the annual National Apple Harvest Festival. This is a fun event for the entire family. While you are there, check out Gettysburg too. It makes for a great trip to learn more about history.
This is just a few of the many events happening in the Autumn for you to consider exploring. Let us know what events you decide to attend this year in the comments.
