Fun for Halloween: Western US
When traveling the United States in the Western areas during Halloween, there are many options for family fun. Below are some of my family’s favorite things to do out west for Halloween.
As I am sure you expected, there are many Halloween events happening if you visit Disneyland in October. In fact, they have a Haunted Castle for visitors to get their spook on. You can expect to have many eerie encounters as many of the shows and rides are turned into dreadful delights. The Disney villains are sure to haunt you as they materialize throughout the park. There are Halloween overlays all throughout the park, and if you stay in the evening, you can enjoy Mickey’s Halloween Party. There, you will enjoy holiday-themed foods, trick or treats, and, of course, fireworks.
You will also find the historic Queen Mary in California, a permanently moored luxury cruise ship in Long Beach. The Queen Mary is rumored to be haunted, a fact you may discover for yourself on one of the ship tours. They offer a “Ghosts and Legends” tour and other thematic tours throughout the year. One of the scariest tours offered, though, is their annual “Dark Harbor: Fear Lives Here” tours that happens from the end of September through the beginning of November. If you enjoy being scared, that is an event to not be missed.
San Diego’s SeaWorld’s Spooktacular is another fun event to consider. You will enjoy some special Halloween shows for the entire family. There are also many life-sized sea creatures throughout the park that your young children can dance with. All the events at SeaWorld can be enjoyed with regular admission.
All Busch Gardens parks offer an annual Howl-O-Scream festival that is sure to bring a chill to your bones. There, you will find many elaborate themed shows, terrifying scare zones, and some spooky haunted houses. Don’t fret, though. If you go during the daytime, there are many family-friendly events to keep from scaring young children.
As you can see, the west coast has many events going on to keep your entire family in the Halloween spirit. Give the above events a try and let us know what you think.
